The Gunners are bidding to extend their lead at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table to five points while Reading are hoping to bounce back from consecutive defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United.
Ahead of the match, FAWSL Full-Time have taken a look at the statistics and here are four facts which relate to Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League meeting with Reading.
Miedema boasts extraordinary record against Reading
Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema has scored at least once in each of her last six league outings against Reading. The Dutch international has struck 12 goals in those matches against The Royals. You have to go back to April 2018 for the last time that Miedema did not score against Reading in league competition.
Riding out early pressure key for The Royals
Seven of Arsenal’s last 11 league goals scored against Reading have come in the first half of matches. The Gunners netted three of their four goals in the first half as they defeated The Royals 4-0 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium back in September. Weathering the first half storm is so important for Reading this evening.
Reading seeking first-ever point at the LV Bet Stadium
Reading have faced Arsenal on five occasions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in Boreham Wood but they are yet to collect as much as a point. The Royals have conceded three or more goals in four of their five visits to the LV Bet Stadium, the only narrow defeat came in the 2017 FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series went they went down 1-0.
No member of the Reading squad has scored against Arsenal
During their time in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, Reading have scored five goals against Arsenal. Of those five players who have netted against the North Londoners, none of them remain at the club therefore The Royals go into this evening’s meeting with no member of their squad having ever scored against The Gunners whilst wearing blue and white.
The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and Reading kicks-off at 7.15pm this evening.
